Position Description: Pastoral Staff

POSITION: CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Children’s Ministry Director will be responsible for the overall vision and implementation of ministry, in partnership with families, for the faith development of children (birth through 5th grade.)

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with church and ministry leaders to define, develop, and effectively create a dynamic children’s ministry faith development program;

Work with Second Baptist leadership to effectively pursue the goals and mission of Second Baptist Church;

Build relationships by supporting, shepherding and prayerfully encouraging children and their parents, grandparents and other caregivers in their Christian formation.

Partner with and support parents/caregivers by developing ministry tools and resources that equip them to engage their children in discipleship at home.

Plan, implement and evaluate programs that align with our church values to be inclusive and loving lifelong Jesus followers.

Identify, recruit, train, and support ministry volunteers for all programs and activities related to children’s ministry, including compliance for background checks.

Manage the operational budget for the Children’s Ministry department.

REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

5+ years of educational experience in early childhood development and/or elementary aged children

College degree in early childhood development or education, or relevant years of related field experience

A balance of creative/innovative thinking, while being sensitive to traditions in the church

Friendly, enthusiastic, and flexible team approach while working with children, youth, parents, and staff members 

Agrees and aligns with the vision, values and inclusivity of Second Baptist Church

Strong organizational and administrative skills

ACCOUNTABILITY: Administratively responsible to Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor for Spiritual Formation. This position is a ¾-full time paid position, with benefits to be considered, commensurate with experience.
