Shaping Our Now: Wednesday Night Series

Wednesdays, January 14 – February 11 at 6:00p | Grand Hall

It takes no time or energy or even imagination to know the voices and forces that are shaping our world. We can name them: news cycles, social media, politics, fear, urgency. They are easy to spot because they demand our attention. And even when we try to avoid them, someone says something, asks something or shows us something and we are pulled right back in.

But there are quieter voices and forces

The stories we tell ourselves.

The patterns we fall into.

The ways we react when we feel threatened, unseen, or overwhelmed.

This spring, our Wednesday Night series asks a simple but important question: Who is shaping our now? Not just “what is happening out there,” but what is forming us on the inside—and whether those voices and forces are leading us toward wholeness, freedom, and love. And how we can be better attuned to them.

We will begin with the Enneagram, a tool for self-understanding that I have come to rely on, connect with God through and see how spirits, lives, relationships… the world, can change through this beautiful resource that has been used for spiritual formation for generations. The Enneagram is not about labeling or putting people in boxes. It is about noticing the patterns we’ve learned for getting through the world—patterns that once helped us survive, but may now be limiting our growth.

This is not a “hot topic.”

It isn’t controversial; it is kind of trendy, but not always for the right reasons.

And that’s exactly why it matters.

Deep spiritual formation rarely happens through spectacle. It happens when we slow down, pay attention, and grow in self-awareness. When we learn to recognize what shapes our reactions, our relationships, and even our understanding of God.

This series is for everyone—whether you’ve heard of the Enneagram before or not, whether you love personality tools or are skeptical of them. You don’t need prior knowledge. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need a willingness to be curious and honest.

Our hope is that Wednesday nights will be a space to learn, reflect, and grow together—grounded in grace, held by love, and open to the Spirit’s quiet work among us.

Because when we understand what is shaping us, we are better able to choose what will shape us.

We will gather together in Grand Hall for our sessions.

And I hope you will join me in asking the question: how might God be shaping me, , us in ways we never imagined!

Peace,

Pastor Carrie
